The 4.0 Deli Scrubs hit a brick wall at Hoover’s Ted Williams Field on Saturday as the Yankees issued a 16-1 beatdown in a game called after five innings due to the SDABL mercy rule. Ayres went three-for-three and Hoffarth singled, but aside from that the Scrubs’ bats were silent. The skipper took some hacks at the plate after Herman, hitting leadoff, was ejected in the bottom of the second for arguing a suspect call at first base. Wagner pitched all five innings. The team was short-handed due to several players dealing with other commitments.
